Yesterday was interesting.
Mass: We had the crazy priest again. Very amusing.
U.S.: Sat there bored. Tried to get DDR onto my calculator but it wouldn't work.
Spanish: Showed off my iPod since Bro. Mike doesn't mind. Lots of people were like OMGWTF yo. XD I forget what else I did.
Religion: Absolutely nothing. Sat there, wrote some trivia questions.
Once school was let out, I got my stuff together, changed, and headed to help set up the Anime/Sci-Fi club Christmas party. It was alright. Nothing too special. Just wandered around most of the time, had some MGS trivia.. Oh yeah. Presents. I got..well, I didn't really open Shannon's gift yet (sorry dear XD). Mike got me Xenogears (OMFG YES Mike I love you with all my heart). Mark got me a random Inu Yasha plushie...even though I've never seen Inu Yasha.. Wes got me earrings, and both Val and Mary Ann got me generic candy XD Oh well, the sweet tarts will go to use sometime.
At around 2:45, Tadas and I left to go see the Phantom of the Opera movie. No one came with us. Oh well. As for the movie...well.
Gerard wasn't a very good Phantom. He just...didn't evoke any emotion. I didn't feel bad for Erik at all. I didn't feel compassion or pity. And his deformity...well, as Tadas said, half of his face was an old drunk man with a bad acne problem. Emmy Rossum was a pretty good Christine. Her voice was beautiful, but she had the Sarah Brightman look on her face a bit too often. Patrick Wilson=wonderful Raoul. My favorite Raoul will always be John Cudia (speaking of which, I MISS HIM ahhh I gotta go back and see the show again) but he did a damn good job at it. Raoul was definately likable here...at least to the people who didn't go in hating him (which, unfortunatly, is about 80% of phans). Carlotta was good, the managers pretty much sucked, Meg was good, Giry was good.
The movie itself... Well. The midget was...odd. As was the guy mooning Carlotta. The exploding chandelier was too, although it was amusing. The swordfight amused me greatly as well. You know that part where they're like...on the opposite side of some stone thing with this slit near the middle where their eyes were? I was waiting for one of them to thrust their sword into there and poke the other guy's eye out or something. Oh, and what was up with Raoul's leather jacket during 'We Have All Been Blind'? I mean, come ON. He looked sexy in it but did they /have/ those things back then?
...And the final lair scene gets its own paragraph. Although it lacked the emotion that the stage production had, it was pretty good. I liked how a lot of it took place in the water. And...oh my god. I went into the movie knowing "hahaha no slash oh well". DID YOU SEE HOW ERIK WAS TYING RAOUL TO THE PORTICULLUS (sp)?! My god, he was all over him! And it wasn't just my imagination! o_O I was cracking up insanely. They made my favorite line of the finale very cheesily filmed ("For either way you choose you cannot win/For either way you choose he has to win"), which had me stuffing my fist in my mouth. Oh well.
I know that they couldn't end on the last chord that the show does, but...it still upset me a little ^^;
Anyway, I might go back and see the movie again today, despite the fact that I wasn't 100% fond of it. It's still Phantom, and I did like some parts.
Perhaps I shall go next week and catch a show (onstage). I want to say hi to John and Hugh again.
