Jun. 24th, 2004 11:52 pmWhoa. I'll update this journal while the day's memories are still fresh.
So. 10:45am I meet Roz. We hop a train to Central Park, and look for the field the POTO team is playing on. John like...busted his knee or something, so he wasn't there. Oh well. We wandered around the park for a while after we watched the game for 45 min or so, and found that they had a fair at the ice rink. Free admission today, god knows why, but we weren't complaining. We went on a lot of the rides, mostly kiddie rides but it was freakishly fun.
After that, we went back to the field to see who was playing in the 1:30 division, and we went to watch the Producers vs Avenue Q game. Producers were PWNING them. So. badly. Then I saw a guy on the Producers team who looked really familiar. I couldn't figure out exactly who, but I knew I'd seen him before. Then Roz comments, "He looks kind of like Matthew, you know? But he's outta the show, so he wouldn't be here..." But we went closer, stood behind the benches, and watched. Then he walked up near us and talked to someone. And we just turned to each other, going "O_O It's him." Recognized his voice in an instant. Mr. Matthew Broderick. XD So we watched him and the team kick ass (man can that boy play softball). After the game was over (20 to nothing..) we went up to Matthew and asked for an autograph and a picture. He wound up signing our Producers tickets for the night XD Roz is gonna send me the pic when she gets it.
We left after that, and went by the Lincoln Center. We will get into the archives one day, damnit. And then we went by where Frogs is playing. She was gonna try to get seats for Monday, but they were utterly sold out till the end of July. And it turns out that John's wife, Kathy Voykto or whatever is in the show. I just started slamming my head against the wall when Roz pointed her name out. So yeah.
A bit later, we went to Rockefeller Center and to the Pokemon Center. Played some Colloseum. New Pokemon or something...but no info on how to get it yet. Bastards. Ate at Fridays, and walked around. We went by the Gershwin, they were doing lottery. I swear, there must have been 400 people there. She tried getting tickets, but they were sold out 'til, yep, late July. We then went by the Imperial and decided that ticket prices were too expensive and that sitting far away wasn't an option when you're gawking at Hugh Jackman. Hopped a train back to her hotel, met with her friend Kristine, who has seen POTO 50 times. And knows tons of the cast members. Lucky. XD Went to 42nd, she ate, went to the St. James.
Just...wow. I was pleasantly surprised. Hunter Foster was a wonderful Leo. At first, I'm like "ehhh" but yeah. His hysterics were quite different from Roger's, but still damn funny. Didn't do some of the funny/cute things that Roger did, but oh well. XD I really warmed up to him during "I Wanna Be a Producer"...he totally rocked that song hard. And did the high note at the end REALLY nice. So I'm like, yay. Him and Brad did this funny thing during the hysterics scene, dealing with the whole blanket-up-like-rabbit-ears thing. Brad was imitating him, using his scarf. I'm just like, lmfao. I was laughing so hard. Rest of the show was wonderful... but man. Hunter was...well, kind of...swishy. Quite so. Especially towards the beginning. I was laughing a bit at that. So yeah, rest of show pwned, left theater, came home.
My dad saw LSOH today. He was sitting in between Joey Fatone's family and friends (including two N Sync members, one of which was on the phone with Mr. Timberlake). He, and I, found that horribly amusing. He said that Joey was pretty damn good, so I may catch him sometime this summer.
What a wonderful day.
