Aug. 22nd, 2004 10:11 pmLSOH closing night. I cried. Seriously. ;_;
So I get to the theater at around 6:30pm or so...see Joey Fatone walk in, laugh a bit, go into the theater. I bought a program and went to my seat... row K, seat 8. Great seat. Left orch. So yeah. As the show started, there was WILD cheering. Hell. There was WILD CHEERING throughout the entire show. Character entrances, mid-song... The amount of energy in the audience was amazing. Everyone in the cast gave an amazing performance. By the time it ended, my eyes were filled with tears...such a wonderful show..and it had to come to an end. Everyone in the crew and cast ran out onto the stage afterwards. After curtain call, Rob Bartlett yelled "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP! The doors are locked. You're not leaving. I hope you brought your lunch." It was hilarious XP He then proceeded to make a speech about the show ("This god and customer forsaken show!" The reference was hilarious, but it was sad because it was true...rahhhh). In the duration of the speech, a couple of people hopped onstage. Alan Menken (who wrote the music), Jerry Zaks (director), and yes, Hunter Foster (original Seymour in this production) was there too! They sang "Happy Trails", as the tradition went, and the curtain fell for the final time... It was so difficult leaving the theater, but alas, I had to. Came home, and here I am.
