Aug. 22nd, 2005 01:35 pmAlright, time to start my Otakon recap.
Thursday morning was documented in Thursday's entry. After we finally got our rooms, we dragged our crap up there, and sat around for a while. Sometime in the evening...I can't remember exactly when, Tadas and I got on line for our badges. About an hour and 45 minutes later, we had them. Once we left the convention center, I met up with Beckah on the corner and much hugs and squeeing were done. After that, Tadas and I went back to the hotel. We hung around, then decided we needed to buy some snack items for the hotel room, so we looked for a drug store or convenience store or something. It was then that I realized Baltimore closes at 7pm. It was 8pm, and freaking CVS was closed. I mean, CVS?! That store's supposed to be open LATE, if not 24/7! Not one open store around. That was extremely annoying. But anyway. Dinner was had at some seafood buffet at 9:30pm, and the food was...eh. Can't say it was that good. And way too expensive. Went back to the room, went to sleep.
I woke up on Friday at around 8am, I think. Maybe 7. Tadas and I headed to the convention center, got some coffee, and sat down by the Starbucks. There, we met up with Richard, and then Beckah and her crew. A lot of wandering was done, before we finally went to the dealers room and OHMYGOD IT WAS HUGE. Words cannot describe the HUGENESS OF IT ALL. Richard was kind enough to buy me yaoi doujin (though I owe him XDDD). I'll list my purchases at the end of this entry. What did we do after that...Artist's Alley, I think. I need to spend more time there next year, there's a lot of awesome stuff there. Went back to the hotel, took a short nap, then went to the Friday Night Fan Parodies. Hilarious. Final Fantasy vs. Kaiju Big Battel for the win. Oh, we met up with Alli a bit before that, she joined us. After that, we tried to see Sukisyo, but it was replaced by Gravitation -.- I love Grav, but HOW MANY TIMES MUST I SEE IT AAAARGH I WANTED SUKISYO oh well. Then I went back to the room and passed out.
Saturday! Cosplay day! Got into my Rubedo costume, Tadas got into his Albedo costume. We met up with our now Nigredo!Richard and wandered around and got pictures taken of us. And that was cool. Tadas and I went and lined up for the FMA autograph session. Waiting on line was very tolerable due to the people next to me watching episode 13 on a portable DVD player. WIN. I got the autographs of Vic Mignogna (who fanboyed over the pencilboard I had him sign), Mike McFarland (who told me that the dub of episode 37 was going to be an absolute riot, which I expected anyway XD), and effing Seiji Mizushima (DIRECTOR OF FMA WHOAMYGOD). Fullmetal Fantasy started a little over an hour after that, so Tadas and I decided to go to the room where it'd be showing and sit in on another panel so we'd have good seats for FMF. XDD And was FMF awesome. There were some technical difficulties, so a girl passed the time by getting up in the front and singing an english version of "Bratja". It was amazing (and I want those lyrics so I can sing it myself). Eventually it started, and I now worship Vic as a god. He IS the ultimate FMA fanboy. I mean, his liscence plate is "FUL MTL". Once that was over, they showed the dub of episode 29, which rocked (even though we were sitting WAY TOO CLOSE TO THE SPEAKERS). And then Vic told us of a new FMA fanproject he's working on with Travis Willingham (Roy's VA), some kind of movie using action figures of Ed and Roy. The lines are already recorded, so all that's left is filming and editing, I guess. AND it'll be released on the net. WHOOO. I can't wait. Later on, we went to the Iron Editor Challenge, which took up a good three and a half hours, but it was well worth it. The video that won was SO cracked out. I mean, when it starts with "LET'S DO THIS! LEROOOOOOOY JEEEEEENKINS", you know it's great. Once THAT was over, we watched a little of the Saturday Night Fan Parodies, then got bored, went back to the hotel and went to sleep.
Sunday. Woke up, packed stuff up. Around noon, we went to the Artist's Alley where I picked up more stuff, then back to the Dealer's Room where I bought more stuff. Then we left =\ Took a taxi to the bus station. Got there around 2pm, I guess? Bus was SUPPOSED to leave at 3:20. Our bus left at 5pm -_- Didn't get back until 9:30 or so.
And now I'm home and exhausted. Whoo.
Now for the crap I bought. Yes it's ALL FMA STUFF. Obsession ahoy!
( So much crap, I need to use an LJ cut. )
I...THINK that's it. I'll go back and edit if I missed any.
Will be uploading pics soon.
