...I was expecting this to happen all along, yet I wasn't...really prepared for it. I don't think anything could have prepared me for it.

EDIT: Upon further reading of the database once I calmed down, I feel...well, I'm not happy, but...more content. That's probably the best that could have happened for them. I know the absolute best case scenario would never happen, but...this is the second best. I'm...well. Happier. Content.
